HDMI Switch: The Perfect Solution for HDMI Transmission
Written by luecjennifer

In order to view many HDMI inputs on a single display device, the HDMI Switch can be used. This occurs in situations where the output device does not have multiple HDMI ports to connect the input devices. By using the switch, all inputs can be viewed on a single output device. The switching between the various sources is also simple and does not require any complex procedures. It can be accomplished easily with the help of push buttons on the front of the unit, via Infra red remote control or through RS232. The LED indicates the status of the selected source. Easy to install, these switches work on simple plug and play functionality.

Typically consisting of 2, 4 or 8 ports, there is also an advanced version called the Matrix HDMI Switcher which allows the displays to be viewed on more than one output device. It creates a combination of interconnection possibilities and is available in several sizes such as the 2x2, 3x2, 4x2, 4x4 or 8x8 HDMI matrix switches. The main advantage of these devices is saving the hassle of disconnecting and reconnecting input devices. These switches can also be cascaded for a larger distribution. Certified by FCC, CE and RoHS, they are compatible with all HDMI and HDCP compliant devices. Backward compatible with DVI-D, they follow a standard of extremely high speed digital transmission.

This Video Switcher is equipped with a built in repeater/equalizer chipset which can boost digital HD signal length. Supporting resolutions up to 1920 x 1200 and a video amplifier bandwidth up to 2.25Gbps/225MHz, its key feature is the ability to consume less power. These switches work with input devices like computers, HD-DVD players, TiVo systems and set top boxes. Small in size, these devices are considered to be compact audio/video connectors which can route both HDMI and audio signals through their HDMI ports. Available in desktop and rack mountable versions, this switch provides the perfect solution in situations where the same information has to be shown on various HDMI outputs. Due to all these features, the HDMI switch finds usage in digital signage applications, home theaters, conference and training facilities, data centers and remote monitoring facilities.
