VGA Splitter: Splitting VGA Video while Retaining Quality of Images
Written by luecjennifer

VGA Splitter stands for Video Graphic Array splitter which is a hardware device, that allows you to display computer’s video signal enabled with VGA output to as many as 16 VGA monitors. The biggest advantage of these splitters is that, it could be arranged into a series of multiple splitters so as to display the image on multiple monitors. When these splitters are used with inexpensive Cat5 / Cat5e / Cat6 cables, the VGA video signals could be extended up to 984ft. Even though the images are split and passed on to multiple devices, they are still crystal clear since there is no loss of signal. This device is fashioned to amplify the signal. DDC, DDC2, and DDC2B are the protocols that these splitters follow.

Also known as the VGA distribution amplifier, this device acts as both - a video signal booster and a video splitter. It allows you to distribute resolution video signals to two or more displays. Crystal clear pictures are delivered because the booster enhances the video signal to a great extent. The three forms of this distribution amplifier are Portable, Rack Mount and Wall Mount. They have been made available in different forms so as to cater all applications which require high performance distribution of video signal. The distribution amplifier works in such a way that it takes the signal from one computer video port, amplifies it and then splits it so as to feed two or more high resolution data displays. Specially designed Inline video distribution amplifiers are used for video signals such as Composite video, S-Video, RGBS or RGBHV.

Extensively used in places where it is required to display the same image on multiple monitors, VGA splitter can display the same image from a single PC with VGA video to up to 16 different monitors without distorting the video. Video splitter is available in sizes of 2, 4, 8 and 16 ports. These splitters support DDC2B protocol, and VGA / SVGA monitor which include LCD flat panel monitors. Because of its high quality video on multiple monitors, it is generally used in classrooms, tradeshows and digital signage.
