Signals transmitted from a computer are analog signals and in order to view them on a flat panel monitor, plasma screen etc, these need to be converted to digital signals. A VGA to DVI-D Converter performs this action. By converting the signals from analog to digital, it makes it possible for computers to be connected to high definition display devices. Working on the simple fundamental of plug and play, these devices work by connecting the VGA source to the unit and the DVI monitor or projector to the DVI output of the converter. Once this is done, the device converts the analog signals to digital. All input signals are automatically scaled to the native resolution of the display thereby improving the picture quality. Resolutions of UXGA (1600x1200), SXGA (1280x1024), XGA (1024x768), SVGA (800x600), and VGA (640x480) are supported by these VGA to DVI-D conversion devices.
Due to the unique features of these converters, the resultant images are just like the images at source and are displayed without ghosting or data loss. Hot pluggable, these devices do not require any additional software or drivers for operation. Other key features of this hardware device include easy installation, automatic input resolution detection and output picture adjustment of brightness, contrast, color, RGB level and H-V position. On Screen Display menu and front panel push buttons are used to select the output resolution and refresh rate. The input and output connectors are VGA 15 Pin HD female and DVI-D Single Link or VGA 15 Pin HD female respectively.
This Video Converter is compatible with the DDWG DVI standard. It has also obtained the necessary regulatory approvals from CE, FCC and RoHS. Since this extender has the capability to improve the brightness, color dynamics and contrast of the older models of televisions, it saves on increased expenditure on hardware and also increases the life of this existing equipment. Compact in size, these converters are enclosed in a metal case to provide for added durability. There are various types of these converters in the market today such as DVI-D, DVI-I Single link, DVI-I dual link and DVI-A.
Ideal for applications where a DVI-D monitor needs to be connected to a computer with a VGA graphics card, the VGA to DVI-D conversion device is used mostly by Home theater enthusiasts.
