MDS & OVAB Europe organizing the Digital Signage Expert Tour at ISE 2011!

OVAB Europe – the first pan-European digital out of home association – will again co-organize the Digital Signage Guided Tour at the ISE 2011. The ISE Digital Signage Expert Tour is an educational framework, helping visitors understand and experience the full digital out-of-home application on the show floor. The tour will be operated by OVAB Europe founding member Minicom Digital Signage. Integrated Systems Europe is the leading professional AV and electronic systems integration show. The tour will visit and inform about suppliers of Content Screens Software Extension Audience Measurement The tour is a free service and will starts twice a day from Hall 10 Booth N116, 1 – 3 February at 10:00 am and 14:00. This free tour will provide an overview of a selection of carefully hand-picked exhibitors following the accurate path of the digital signage supply chain, from content creation to traffic management, outlining how they fit into the overall Digital Signage puzzle. Traditionally, a visitor finds it difficult to get a bird’s eye view of the overall application. The ISE Digital Signage Tour answers this need by providing the full end-to-end story with real live demos of each piece in the puzzle, an overview of the solution which a visitor would normally not get. New President for North America’s Region at Minicom Digital Signage – Amir Shaked

Amir Shaked is bringing to MDS 25 valuable years of experience in the technology industry and in executive management. Up until now, Amir Shaked was President of Press-sense’s operations in the Americas, where he grew the company’s revenues by over 60% during the current recession, by strengthening Press-sense’s relationships with its OEM’s, resellers and direct customers. Amir started his career as a software engineer in 1984, joining Comverse Technology as one of their first employees. Amir moved with Comverse to the US in 1989, and during the early 1990’s Amir founded and managed Comverse Network Systems’ Americas division.   In 1995, Amir became President of Accord North America. Accord achieved 50% market share within three years; it then IPO'ed and was subsequently acquired by Polycom (NASD: PLCM) for $350M. Prior to Press-sense, Amir successfully held CEO positions at Disksites, Inc., responsible for its turn-around and sale to Expand Networks, and at CeLight, raising $50M in VC funding. It consisted of two ½ day sessions with in-depth presentations on Broadsign, Samsung and MDS technologies. Broadsign discussed its flexible content creation and management system. Samsung’s presentation focused on their reliable, low energy consumption Professional Display screens including their ultra thin bezel offerings for video walls. Digital Signage in Retail Flop, or How the content makes the difference

Crime scene: Zürich, Niederdorfstrasse Time: Friday, April 30th Crime: Running winter olympics videos while promoting the spring sneakers collection! I just couldn’t believe my eyes. Mild Friday afternoon and favorite window-shopping hours were completely ruined by this outrageous sight. On pretty comfortable 23degrees, and chased by conscience because of my low fitness level, I stepped into one of many sports’ equipment shops in Niederdorfstrasse. Only blind would have missed the huge promotion that was guiding the attention of the buyer to the separate room. Yes, sneakers’ spring collection was there! As a typical consumer with bad conscience, I followed the signs obediently, and ended up infront of around 100 new examples. The room was small, obviously dedicated to promotions only. The highlight of the room were the two Samsung screens, running the advertising content… or, at least, I believe it was the idea… But, instead of promotional videos, filmed in greenery, with spring look&feel – the highlight of the room was running the videos from winter olympics. Instead of the green, spring feeling, one felt like going back to winter jacket. Should we emphasize the importance of the content that the digital signage networks are running? Hereby, I am nominating this example for the Digital Signage in Retail Flop of the year!   Read the original article
