A keyboard, mouse and a monitor integrated into 1U housing is called a Rackmount monitor. Supporting various types of video inputs such as VGA, DVI, S-Video, Composite RCA and Composite BNC, these monitors are available in screen sizes ranging from 15” to 20”. Classification can also be on the basis of features such as touch screen, sunlight readability and shallow depth. The size of the rack is another criterion for classification of these LCDs. Variants to the 1U model is built in 2U, 6U, 7U, 8U or 9U frames. Resolutions ranging from1024x768 up to 1600x1200 are supported and the LCD Sun unit also supports the native sun resolution. Equipped with a flip up design and adjustable mounting brackets, the unique feature of the Rackmount LCD is that the unit remains open even when the rack door is closed. The OSD also allows administrators to monitor data even through glass doors that have been closed. Built of light weight aluminum, the installation of these monitors is simple. Since they are housed in a metal rack enclosure and protected by impact resistant glass, they are considered rugged industrial units. Movement of the keyboard is prevented by the ball bearing telescopic slides with stoppers and lock out rails. Security features are enhanced with the front access locks. The panel button controls can be used to adjust Brightness, Contrast, Color, Clock, Horizontal Position, Vertical Position, Phase, Scaling, Auto configuration, Input select, Multi window, Clear EEPROM. The Rack LCD has other features important features like lower power consumption, an analog to digital signal converter board, Standard D-sub 15-pin VGA input connectors, multi platform support to PCs, SUNs, IBMs, HPs, and Dells along with regulatory approvals from FCC, CE, VCCI, TAA and RoHS. Hot pluggable; these units have LEDs depicting the power status. A latest model is one with a Quad Screen display option allowing users to display and monitor video signals from four different computers or video sources simultaneously on one single screen. This unit is designed so as to maximize rack mountable space making it a perfect choice in space restricted environments. Different models of the Rackmount monitor are used in different industries. Server and network centers, surveillance applications, government and military environments all make use of this device.
