A KVM set is composed of a keyboard, video, and a mouse, more popularly its known as a KVM Switch; which is a hardware device that allows you to connect a single keyboard, video and mouse to multiple computers; it could also function in the reverse direction. Now with just a single keyboard, video and mouse you could control a pool of server computers using this switch; this allows you to save money, time, equipment and power and is widely used for business/commercial purposes. Since the servers in the server farm are accessed separately and periodically at a given time, these switches save a lot of money/resources and is very beneficial in business.

DVI KVM switch is a hardware device that permits you to use a single keyboard, video and mouse to control several PS2 or USB based computers with DVI video. It is compatible with various platforms and operating systems and allows you to display and monitor video signals from different computers or video sources simultaneously on a single screen with keyboard and mouse operation. This switch can be controlled using the push buttons on the front panel or using hot key commands from the keyboard. It is generally used in workstations in supervisory systems, server farms, process control centers and so on. If a user wishes to control two computers using a single keyboard, video and mouse; then that could be possible by using a 2 port KVM switch.

For easy boot-up and operation, the switch has been enabled with keyboard and mouse emulation feature; also a hot key functionality has been included which allows the user to switch ports using simple keyboard commands. These switches have been enabled with an auto scanning feature and it supports multiple operating systems; also by using coaxial VGA cabling, high quality video resolution is obtained. These switches do not require any power supply as it draws its power off the keyboard. These switches make work easier at home as well as in an organization. The KVM Switches are widely popular among users/network administrators who wish to use a single keyboard, video and mouse to control multiple computers.
