The USB extender is a hardware device that permits you to make extensions from 1 to 4 USB peripheral devices. Using inexpensive Cat5 / Cat5e / Cat6 UTP cable, it could make extensions up to 150ft. The best part of this device is that it uses simple plug and play functionality and hence is easy to set up. USB Extender supports various applications such as Windows, Mac-OS, Linux and Sun and are extensively used in applications using Extron Annotator and remote touch screen displays; it also could be used for applications which need remote location of USB peripherals like interactive mouse, keyboards and other human input devices.

Wireless USB extender is a hardware device that allows you to make extension of USB peripherals up to 110ft, without requiring the cables. It’s a hub that consists of a transmitter along with a receiver with 4 ports. This permits you to connect up to 4 USB devices that could be a printer or a scanner or an isochronous web cam or hard drives or MP3 players. The best part of this hardware device is that it requires no software to run it and it supports OS such as Windows 2000, XP, MAC OSX, Solaris and Unix Linux and also USB transfer types such as Control, Bulk, Interrupt and Isochronous. The different types of Extenders available are Audio Extender, DVI-D Extender, Firewire Extender, RS232 Extender, VGA Video Extender, USB Extender, KVM Extenders, USB KVM Extender, CAT5 Splitter-Extender, Fiber Optic Extenders, HDMI Fiber Optic Cable, Component Video Extender, Composite Video Extender, Wireless USB 2.0 Extender, HDMI Extender.

Each extender mentioned is used for a different purpose; for example an Audio Extender is used to make extensions of analog stereo audio over long distances via Cat5 / Cat5e / Cat6 UTP cables; however a DVI-D extender is used to make extensions of digital DVI video signal over long distances using inexpensive Cat5 / Cat5e / Cat6 UTP cables. In a USB Extender over Cat5 kit, the local transmitter and receiver unit are connected using Cat5 UTP cable. In this kit, also includes RJ45 and Icron Ranger usb 2.0 extender so as to support USB2.0 peripheral devices at speeds up to 480Mb/s, over a distance of 50m. The powering is done through extreme USB technology.
