The distance between a DVI display device and the DVI source device can be extended by using a DVI Extender. Connections are secured using a CAT 5 cable thereby eliminating the need for standard DVI cables. Consisting of a local transmitter and receiver unit with the former connected to the video source and the latter to the display, this device operates on simple plug and play functionality. It does not require any additional software or device drivers for operation. Once the connections are secured, the device is ready for relaying video signals. Resolutions of 1920x1200 resulting in crisp and clear images are possible with these extenders.
This device is available in various formats with the most common one being the CAT5 DVI Extender .
Available in 2, 4 and 8 port units, these extension devices are also available as a splitter extender and allow transmission of the same image to multiple locations. Certified by FCC, CE and RoHS, the Cat5 extenders operate at a video amplifier bandwidth of 1.65 GHz. The main features of this device are easy installation due to the magnetic pad enabling them to be quickly attached to a metal surface, compatibility with almost all operating systems and LEDs indicating the DVI activity. The latest models are equipped with a standard 3.5 mm audio jack input which allows long distance audio and video extension.
These days, people prefer the DVI Fiber Optic Extender to all the other categories available since they allow longer distance extensions.
Transmission takes place over fiber optic cables which allow security and are also resistant to RFI and EMI. Both single as well as dual link models are available. The difference between the two lies in the resolutions they support, with the former supporting 1080p / 1920x1200 (WUXGA) and latter up to 2560x1600 (WQXGA+). Working methodology is simple; the input signals are converted to optical light pulses for transmission over fiber optic cable and once they reach the destination, they are again converted to a DVI signal.
These features make the DVI Extender an ideal solution for long range DVI transmission. Various industries such as medical, government, military, educational and hospitality are making use of these devices for displaying local images at multiple locations.
We have seen the breaking news of the iPad in the past month or so now we see the next step in digital outdoor signage, this is taxi top digital
advertising.
Digital outdoor signage is one of the worlds most effective
ways to advertise your product and improve brand awareness, with this new
technology there comes a price and with locations such as Times Square in New York charging a
staggering $3 million per location, this market is massive. How can they charge
so much, I hear you ask? Well think for a moment the amount of eyeballs that
will see the signage, as New York and Times Square are one of the main
landmarks and tourist attractions in America, nearly as much as the naked
cowboy!
Businesses have been contemplating how to develop signage
and now two companies are using them on the roof of taxis, with an amazing
50,000 taxi cabs alone in New York ,
this is a huge untapped market. Whilst the taxi cab companies go about heir day
to day business, they will be earning an extra income from advertising agencies
that are using their cabs as a vehicle (pardon the pun), to deliver
advertising.
So keep your eyes peeled for the taxis with taxi cab digital advertising on their roof.
We have seen digital signage that incorporates users to
upload their own content using their iPhone, this will only be enhanced with
the new iPad, bringing more features that a content creator could think of in a
product that can be held in the hand. This could be called the death of the
laptop, or could it?
LCD Enclosure Global manufacture of range of products from gas pump enclosures to digital vehicle signage enclosures - all at affordable prices
Linden, NJ USA (February 22nd, 2010) - Minicom Digital Signage (http://www.minicomdigitalsignage.com/index.htm?PR_DSE3), the leader in “last mile” player-to-screen connectivity platforms for the Digital Signage marketplace, and AOpen America (http://usa.aopen.com/) are pleased to announce a partnership in the field of Digital Signage Players using video distribution and extension over CAT5 cable.
In the past months successful experiments have taken place to combine Minicom Digital Signage’s DS Vision® 3000 (http://www.minicomdigitalsignage.com/av_ds3000.htm?PR_DSE3) product with AOpen America’s Digital Engine and Media Servers. The distribution of high definition signals over long distances between player and display can be difficult. Sometimes, while it may seem more economical to place a small form factor player behind a screen, the placing of players in accessible, environmentally controlled and secure environments will actually save you money over the life of your network.
”AOpen America is thrilled to find a partner in Minicom Digital Signage who provides a plug and play solution to transfer high quality HD signals more than 200 meters using simple CAT5 cable. This way, our players can be located in a controlled room in our DS Engine Station, where they are accessible, secured and protected.” says Dale Tsai, President at AOpen America.
The technology will demonstrated during the upcoming Digital Signage Expo in Las Vegas. In the demo setup AOpen’s Digital Engine will be connected through Minicom Digital Signage’s DS Vision 3000 to two Panasonic Plasma screens.
DSE is the leading international forum for the Digital Signage industry. It combines a highly respected and peer reviewed conference, an exhibition that demonstrates state of the art Digital Signage technology and unrivalled networking opportunities. Visitors can expect to learn about the developments which are shaping the industry, interact with the latest technology, experience world first demonstrations and do business in a professional and supportive environment. The 2010 Show will be held from February 23rd – 25th in the Las Vegas, Nevada.
