Unlike the US, China, Europe and other countries, Australia has always been slow with adapting to new technologies. This has been evident with the digital signage industry. If you travel through George St in Sydney (one of the busiest street in the largest capital city in Australia) there are no large digital signage screen located anywhere and we find this very hard to believe – not even large billboards have been installed. I guess one of the advantages of being behind with technology is the fact that we can benefit and learn from other countries experiences and implement them here.
So putting that aside, we though we’d talk about who owns the largest digital signage networks that we’ve seen or encountered in Australia which are displaying advertisements or promotions for other businesses.
They are mentioned in no particular order:
Eye Corp
Eye Corp definitely has the largest digital signage presence in the major shopping centres in Australia and many of us might have seen these in Westfields Shopping centres. We have seen two types of digital signage products installed in Westfields. There is a dual-screen setup, whereby two screens are positioned next to each other in landscape orientation. The other is a large screen housed in a stand which is positioned in a portrait orientation. Both are located in high traffic areas so they are hard to miss.
Outpost TV
We first encountered the Outpost TV screens at Bankstown Centro two years ago. They now have a presence at all Centro shopping centres, and various plazas/shopping centres.
Newsagency
We’ve also seen a network of screens located in Newsagencies, but we don’t know who owns or operate these.
There are probably others worth mentioning but we haven’t come across any others except for the above. If you do know of any others let us know and discuss this here.

Hi Marco..
There are quite a few company's making some waves in the market.. From like Command Australia, Aeris Solutions, and Broadsign etc..
One of the best i've seen which offers the WHOLE package, from Content, Installation and Technology is Messagevision .. go to messagevision.com.au for more info.. They are part of Messages on Hold, which is a successful Australian owned company.
I used to work for Pixsell which was a up and coming player in the market, but unfortunately folded early 2007.. I have seen many companies come and go inbetween, so choose one thats in it for the long haul!!
Interesting to see who is still here in 5 to 10 years!!

Hi matt,
Thanks for sharing. The companies you've mentioned do not own or operate large networks.
Do you know what happened with Pixsell? The last time I saw them at Cebit they were doing really well.

Hi Guys,
I can add a few large networks up and running. Our company just completed a national installation for Val Morgan(all cinemas),we also installed a retail network for Holy Sheet! and stage 1 for Lenard's Chickens, all national. We are also starting a large roll out for a chemist chain. And as mentioned above we are in the midst of large projects for Message Vision. The last 18 months have just snowballed to the point we no longer have a sales team. We have learnt over the last 6 years with digital signage specialise in one area as most who try to sort the whole package fail. As with Pixsel i don't know what happened to them though we got a lot of work when their licences expired and people could no longer use their systems.
