Will digital signage businesses survive... 2008/10/09 16:36 Karma: 2
Will digital signage businesses survive during this economic downfall?

This question has been on my mind this past week and I've been wondering whether digital signage businesses have experienced any affects from this economic downfall.

After speaking to several people about this topic I came to the understanding that out of all the departments in a company, the marketing team would be the first group to go. The marketing team generally spends money to make money so this is one of the main reason why a business would strategically decrease the head count of this department. What this may potentially mean for digital signage companies is that less marketing people would look for spending money in deploying digital signage solutions even thought the solution may increase sales and profit (needs to be qualified and quantified).

We haven't felt the wave yet in Australia but I'm sure that it will hit us any time soon.

What are your thoughts on this?

I personally think this is a time for us to grow as an industry. Digital signage is a very cost effective way to do marketing and as business's start to get tighter they have to find more cost effective ways of marketing. That means instead of cutting back and losing sales you need to work smarter not harder. The most bang for your buck with the most return on your investment will strive.
Thanks guys and have a great day!

Especially in this kind of economic climate, businesses are looking for more innovative and cost-effective marketing strategies to really make their product stand out and stick around. And that is where I think retail digital signage solutions are exactly what marketing executives should turn to.

Despite the gloomy economic climate these past few years, there are several case studies of digital signage companies capitalising on their ability to market products in an innovative, multi-sensorial way.

Marketing budgets should not be the first to go. Without Marketing your sales will fall even further and then you will have problems. In 2008 when we had the heavy economic hit here that was the reason that many companies went under is due to cut back in marketing.

The ones that found more effective ways to market their products or services have grown in this economy. This would be DS and would be the best way for them to grow.
Thanks guys and have a great day!
